As the author of the Sound of the Day, I would like to say that I'm certainly glad that people are listening and am saddened to hear that someone has decided to stop. I can only hope they'll give the show another chance next month.

Having said that, I intend to vary the music greatly from time to time and am not surprised that some people will not be as interested in a new theme as they might have been in previous themes. As a matter of fact, the intention was always to encourage people to let me know which they liked best and to bring a couple of the more popular ones back for another whirl.

I have to be realistic, however. If someone decides to stop listening because of the theme presented one month, they were bound to leave sooner or later regardless of what I did. In general, I've had some very positive feedback with each new theme and hope listeners will continue to listen - even when an old favorite stops being used... for a while. ;)

Thanks for listening. Feel free to drop me a line anytime. I'd love to hear from you.

*whew* I was afraid you were using earbuds while driving, and I was going to have to encourage the purchase of an iTrip to help keep you safe.

For the record, I do not believe there are 6,000,000 Americans listening to podcasts. I do not use a fancy podcasting setup to download podcasts overnight. I do not listen to podcasts on my iPod at all, let alone while I'm commuting. I do not use iPod's earbuds, I think they're uncomfortable. But I do really like that Sound of the Day from January 14th.
