If you're just using the router to share an internet connection, your cable or DSL modem is only giving you 1.5Mbps anyway, so 802.11b is plenty fast (up to 11Mbps). The only reason you'd want the faster routers is if you're doing a lot of file transfers between machines on the local network. Which is all to say, grab the cheap 802.11b stuff while you can! I don’t understand all the hype about 802.11g. If you’re just using the router to share an internet connection, your cable or DSL modem is only giving you 1.5Mbps anyway, so 802.11b is plenty fast (up to 11Mbps). The only reason you’d want the faster routers is if you’re doing a lot of file transfers between machines on the local network.

Which is all to say, grab the cheap 802.11b stuff while you can!

Love it! Did I mention I ... love it? ;) I guess I figured since it was on sale I might as well get it. I had the same wired Linksys router from 1997-2003. If I keep the "g" gear that long it would be worth the price I think. I was also pleased that I was able to set up the wireless network myself. For some reason I wasn't able to with the previous wired network and had to call in a geek pal to help me. I purchased wireless-g stuff from Linksys a few weeks ago and I love it. Love it!
