Welcome to the Jungle
Just noticed an agent-sniffing script on Apple’s home page that serves up a different header graphic for Safari users. I guess it’s not particularly interesting… and it’s very simple [if (navigator.userAgent.indexOf(’Safari’) != -1)]. With more than 1 million downloads so far, though, there must be plenty of people seeing that welcome message.

They must not be sniffing me properly … I don’t see this welcome message you speak of. Maybe they sniffed that I’ve also got a Dell laptop sitting here and aren’t giving me the same love you’re getting.
Hmmm.

I am also using a Dell and I’m not seeing anything special. There is definately some hostility from Apple towards Dell users.

I think it’s got more to do with my not having posted anything for almost two weeks than Apple having a grudge against your status as Dell owners. Well, at least in Jish’s case. Greg—you’re on your own. They changed the front page when they announced new machines, and the “Dude! You’re using Safari!” bug is no longer there. I’m sure it’ll be back, but if you wanna see it, you’re gonna have to ditch the Dell.
