Bobby who?

My hero, Indiana coach Mike Davis.Indiana was 17 points behind tonight against Duke, the No. 1 ranked defending national champions expected by many to be cutting down the nets on April 1st. The Blue Devils will be spending April Fools’ Day back in Durham, though, after Mike Davis outcoached Coach K and Big Ten Player of the Year Jared Jeffries led the scrappy Hoosiers to an upset 74-73 win.
Coach Davis had some big shoes to fill when he replaced Bobby Knight in the wake of allegations that Knight physically assaulted his players, but SportsLine.com hoops guru Dan Wetzel argues that this win shows Davis is the real deal. From Dan’s column: “If you couldn’t love IU tonight, if you couldn’t share the utter joy felt by this passionate yet shy, God-praising yet intense Alabama native then you must have been a Duke man or too hung up on the past.”
My bracket in the office pool was shot to hell after last weekend’s games, but my choices had basically ensured me the booby prize (ten percent of the pot). This year’s tournament has featured some great contests, but no game had me jumping out of my seat and screaming at the television like this one did. I think my last-place finish might even be in jeopardy. I’ll surrender it gladly.

i would agree with you on the good win, but Duke is still the better team. They dominated the whole game and had a chance to tie it up and didn’t. I am glad for Indiana, but you have to admit that they got lucky. That’s March Madness for you.

Personally, I just hate Duke, so I’m glad whenever they get beat. Coming back from 17 points down against a team like Duke takes more than luck, don’t you think?

lucky? dominated the whole game? did we watch the same game? in the one i saw, indiana outscored duke 45-31 in the second half. duke didn’t outscore indiana by that much in the first half, or else they would have won the game. duke ended up with the ball, on the foul line, and then putting up two shots that didn’t go in. it’s not as if indiana won on some fluke shot. duke had every chance to win it and didn’t.

I actually laughed out loud when the refs finally called a somewhat even game towards the end. Even though duke had the refs in the bag for 60% of the game, they managed to lose.
The better team? Hardly.
Now maybe the media can begin to give unbiased coverage again?

Y’all can have him. We don’t want him here in Texas.
