Maine Oscar buzz
Ayuh, he’s British.Because of all the critical acclaim it has received, In the Bedroom has been expanded to more screens nationwide, meaning it is probably playing in a theater near you. So go see it—if you’re in the mood for a beautifully-filmed, dark film which has little in common with the typical Hollywood movies I’ve been drowning in lately. The awards and nominations are well-deserved, for Marisa Tomei, Sissy Spacek and especially Tom Wilkinson. It was set in Camden, Maine, and part of the story takes place in Old Orchard Beach—seeing familiar places always adds to my enjoyment of a film, as do silly details like a carton of Oakhurst milk in the fridge.
