I saw a knockout

Jack Black and his up-and-coming co-star.

Shallow Hal could easily have gone sour if it poked fun at its characters’ appearances. But the Farrelly brothers display a warm-hearted, inclusive attitude toward people usually marginalized by the appearance-conscious media. For that reason, you can’t help cheering on Shallow Hal. That and the fact that it’s not at all politically correct. It’s something better. It’s big-hearted, and it’s funny.

— Jay Carr, The Boston Globe

We saw a sneak preview of Shallow Hal last Friday night, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for fans of Jack Black and the Farrelly brothers. Gwyneth Paltrow enthusiasts won’t be disappointed (unless they expect to see her in an Oscar-caliber flick). Kyle “Kage” Gass and Laura “Backstage Betty” Kightlinger even make cameos, and Tony Robbins is convincing as… well, as Tony Robbins. Just to round out the world’s worst movie review, I’ll add the only star I haven’t mentioned yet—Jason Alexander—and leave it at that.
