But if a corporate sponsor doesn’t spot him a TiBook—and if I can’t scrape up the cash to pick one up myself—at least there are alternate operating systems to consider.

Apple Titanium PowerBook G4I was excited this afternoon to read that Jason Kottke wants a Macintosh, because I’m also being swayed by that beautiful machine and that elegant operating system, the one that isn’t Windows XP. (Am I the only one who has a violent physical reaction now when I hear Madonna’s “Ray of Light”?) Getting that Titanium PowerBook would be like coming home for me—I used Macs exclusively for 15 years before I grudgingly converted to Windows two years ago. It sounds like Jason suffered through a lot of the same things that I definitely don't miss about my experiences with Macs, and if he’s willing to give Apple another chance, maybe I should, too.
But if a corporate sponsor doesn’t spot him a TiBook—and if I can’t scrape up the cash to pick one up myself—at least there are alternate operating systems to consider.
